Arrested Development is Not Letting Us Down!
Arrested Development – The cult classic is back after a 6 year hiatus, and fans could not be happier!
The story of a rich family from California who losses all their money in bad trading deals and poor business management may not sound funny, but the characters who make up this story put a spin on it that is hilarious. Arrested Development is centered on the Bluth family, with the primary characters being Michael Bluth (played by Jason Bateman), George-Michael Bluth (played by Michael Cera), Lindsay Bluth-Funke (played by Portia de Rossi), and Maybe Funke (Played by Alia Shawkat). The other members of the family come and go throughout the show.
The first three seasons of Arrested Development took place between 2003 and 2006, and a final fourth season was released in May of 2013 on Netflix. The final season was written slightly different than the other episodes. The original episodes on FOX took the story one episode at a time, tracing back the entire family’s movements over the course of a little over a year. However, the final season focuses on the stories of each of the individual members of the family. Ron Howard is the shows unnamed narrator, and lends his talent to tell the story to the audience.
Arrested Development became an instant cult-classic television show soon after its cancellation in 2006. It is quirky, fresh, and hilarious and has a unique story to tell and tells it in a unique way. Fans are in love with the dysfunctional Bluth family and their never ending mischievous interactions with each other and the world around them. The only straight edged, and seemingly ‘normal’, individual in the family is Michael who is constantly trying to keep the family together. The patriarch of the family (Michael’s father) George Sr. is constantly trying to manipulate the family for financial motives. The Matriarch is Lucille, who criticizes the entire family and does her part as well to manipulate all of her children and grandchildren.
The new episodes of this final season reveal a family that is on the brink of complete breakdown. George Sr. is living in Mexico and selling lemonade to rich executives, while trying to teach them how to better themselves. Lucille is in a high end prison, Michael is living in one of his father’s model homes, and GOB (Michael’s brother) is struggling to book magic shows for his career as a magician. As you can imagine, these story lines all lead to some extremely entertaining moments throughout the show, and the last 15 episodes will not disappoint the shows diehard fan. Look out for more Arrested Development as FOX is in the works to create a Film due out next year!
